The State/70's Rock/Progress

Posted by thefogerty - July 2nd, 2009

Just a couple of tiny announcements.
For one, and the thing I'm really excited about, is an old MTV sketch comedy show that's finally getting to see the light of day after about a decade of total obscurity. The State, a show starring and created by some of today's greatest comedy writers and actors, is finally being released in about 2 weeks. For those unfamiliar with their work (which is absolutely genius) can check out their site at http://www.the-state.com/ for a list of works and the members of the troupe.

Or, you can be lazy and check out this video:

Also, I've been getting into early 70's Progressive Hard Rock. I'd probably consider that era the epitome of hard rock, and probably rock in general. Every since the mid 70's, almost everything's gone to shit. If American Idol goes on for one more season, I might just punch someone in the face. Bands like
Atomic Rooster, Cactus, Dust, Patto, and Sir Lord Baltimore deserve more attention and recognition than 90% of the so-called artists that plague our billboards and radio stations.
Sorry if I'm going on a rant, but I'll stop here.
For those that aren't aware, Sir Lord Baltimore was the first band where the term "Heavy-Metal" was coined. Their song "Kingdom Come" is badass on it's own, but mixed with footage from a Steve McQueen movie is like Jesus pile-driving a Siberian Tiger. Awesome...

Finally, work on animation has been at a standstill. I'm working full-time, so I can't get as much as I wanted to get done. The Telefrancais collab is still in the works. You can check out Bobert-Rob's page for info, or go to the original thread for more info. I'm hoping it'll be ready soon. It sucks when you finish your part on time...
As for Power of Three, it's a rough start, but I'm positive that the final product is going to be nothing short of awesome. Character animations are going well, but it's tough when everything is hand-drawn. I'll keep posting updates about the game, but for now, I'll leave you with this portion of the one-sheet.
Enjoy, NG!
